Recognized by his peers as a master storyteller and brilliant comedian, he can be heard daily alongside Jeff Foxworthy and Bill Cosby on SiriusXM Radio’s Laugh USA and Blue Collar Radio. He speaks to more than 250,000 people a year and has shared the platform with numerous dignitaries. Over two million people have heard him speak, with his audiences crossing over 29 different industries. Steve has the distinction of speaking in all 50 states and in 15 countries. As one newspaper stated, "Steve is what happens when the humor of Ron White collides with the inspiration of Zig Ziglar."

In addition to his brilliant speaking career, Steve is a prolific, accomplished author, evidenced by his book Enjoy The Ridebeing on the publisher’s best seller list for seven consecutive years and being named Author of the Year. His thought-provoking writing style makes his articles a favorite with nationally prominent magazines. He influences the lives of millions through his keynote speeches, books, CDs and DVDs. An extensive array of these products has been utilized by small businesses, Fortune 500 companies, U.S. and Canadian government agencies, churches, school districts and nonprofit organizations. Speaking the language of active business leaders, his books and CDs identify practical lessons that grow people and their businesses.

We are happy to announce that in addition to opening the GMS Summit 2014, Steve Gilliland will be teaching a very special breakout session to fit the needs of our clients.

Every day, you and your organization are being robbed of the opportunity to perform at peak performance. Who is the thief? Negativity! Not only do problem employees under-perform, they make it difficult for everyone else to do their jobs effectively as well. In this eye-opening session, Steve Gilliland shares the secrets of not allowing people to get your goat.

Key Takeaways

• Where bad attitudes originate, why negativity continues to run rampant and ways to head off conflict

• Innovative methods of dealing with the by-products of bad attitudes

• How to turn negative attitudes into positive behaviors and problems into opportunities

Intensive Training

Special Intensive Training Seminars
Maximize your conference attendance by registering for a post conference intensive. These 1 1⁄2 day sessions begin Thursday morning, May 22, at 9 am concluding at 12:00 noon on Friday, May 23.

Intensive #1 - Training on the Accounting Software

This intensive will give you a complete overview of the accounting system. You will see all aspects of the accounting system from setup files to processing steps and reporting options. All of the books of entry, accounts payable processing, payroll processing, general ledger activities, cost allocation and report generation will be shown. Even though concurrent sessions on certain areas of the Accounting Software will take place during the regular annual conference, this 1 ½ day intensive will include all things covered during the concurrent sessions but allows more time to spend on each aspect of the entire system.

Intensive #2 - Year End Procedures/Preparing for Audit
This intensive is a step-by-step review of what you need to do at year-end to close your books and to get ready for your audit. Learn about the latest GMS procedures. Understand schedules you will want to prepare for your auditor. Gain a full understanding about how revenue recognitions are determined based on the type of grant, contract or program. You will receive complete training on all aspects of year-end activity by experienced GMS personnel and an auditor. You will get an auditor’s perspective on what you should have ready for the audit and be able to get answers from a CPA with extensive experience in non-profit and GMS auditing. You will be shown what closing entries are used in the accounting system. This session is designed to help you keep audit costs under control and help you comply with current audit standards.

Intensive #3 -Laptop RLSS Training
This training will benefit anyone who is a seasoned user or new to GMS-RLSS. This session will cover every aspect of using GMS-RLSS so you can take advantage of all of its features. Among the topics covered will be setting up new loans, processing loan activity, using Master File Query, loan reporting, and utilizing the features included in the basic program. We also will demonstrate and explain every RLSS supplement that is available. This is a great way to make sure that your loan policies and procedures are integrated with your RLSS software and you are aware of what software is available and how it works.
This intensive requires you to bring your laptop for the featured hands-on training. Your laptop must have Microsoft Access 2007 or higher & Excel 2007 or higher installed.
Intensives are designed for participant attendance from start to finish so an individual may register for only one intensive. Space is limited so please register early! Separate registration required. See registration form for details.
