It was Great Seeing Everyone!
GMS would like to thank everyone who attended the 2019 GMS Summits in Myrtle Beach, SC. For most of the year, GMS staff’s relationships and contact with our clients consist of phone calls, the chat room and emails. It is always such a pleasure for us to be able to interact with our clients on a personal level at our Summits!
This year was no different and we also want to thank the attendees for the great comments and suggestions. For a lot of you, it was the first Summit you have attended using the new .net software. We truly appreciate all of the positive feedback about the new software and the additional features that come with it. As always, in addition to what our instructors present in sessions, we hope that your ability to network with other GMS users and discuss procedures with them was useful.
The GMS Summits continue to be an educational experience as well for the GMS staff. Your feedback and software suggestions play a key role in our product development and features. We are truly grateful for your input.
We hope you had some time to enjoy Myrtle Beach and what it had to offer. We look forward to seeing even more clients next year at the GMS Accounting Summit 2020 from May 17th through May 20th and the GMS RLSS Summit May 21st and 22nd at The Guest House at Graceland in Memphis, TN!

Sorting Records and Using Filters in .net Accounting
This article was originally published in November, 2018. Additional filtering methods have now been added to it. To give you a complete picture of all filtering methods, we are rerunning this in its entirety.
Our .net accounting software has several new features to help you find information that you may not be aware of. The discussion below will focus on Vendor Entry; however, these same tips may be applied to any screen with master file lists or grids. Books of entry grids do not have these sort options.
On the left side of the screen is where you will find the listing of all your vendors.

On the left side of the screen is where you will find the listing of all your vendors.
This listing includes the columns of Vendor Code, Vendor Name, Alpha Code, Telephone, Acct, Fed ID, and Active. You may click on any column heading and drag it to either the left or right if you wish to view the columns in a different order. Also, by clicking once on any column header, that column will sort in Ascending order. Click twice for Descending order.
In addition to rearranging columns, you may also hide the columns by right clicking on the column heading and selecting Hide this column from the menu.
These changes will be retained for the next time you access this master file grid.
“Filters” are available to help in your search.

“Filters” are available to help in your search.
Click on the icon to open the filter for that column.
From the drop down, select (Custom). Various filter options are available such as Equals, Does not equal, Is greater than, is less than or equal to, is like, etc.
An Export to Excel icon is available at the bottom of these columns to allow you to export and further refine your information.
These same tips can be utilized in the Payment History section of the Vendor Entry screen.
Filter Editor
The Filter Editor is similar to a report writer feature. To use Filter Editor, right click on your column header. On the menu that appears, left click on Filter Editor. You will receive the Filter Editor screen.

Using the screen shot above as an example, if you click on “Vendor Name”, you can change the selection that is searched to Account, Active, Alpha Code, Federal ID, Telephone, or Vendor Code. Clicking on “Begins with” allows search selections such as Equals, Does not equal, Greater than, Less than, and many more options. “Enter a value” is where you enter the value to be compared. If you wish to further narrow your search, click on the red “And” and repeat this process for additional criteria. Once your criteria are completed, click on Apply to receive the results. This can then be exported to Excel for additional sorting if desired.

Marilee, Marilee, Marilee and a Few More Marilees
The Marilee, a Volunteers of America transitional housing complex for the chronically homeless in Spokane, WA, was the site of the Second Annual Marilee Meet-Up held on July 12-13, 2019. Ten Marilees from around the U.S. (some traveling from as far as Florida and Virginia), including our GMS-RLSS Director/Software Technical Support Specialist Marilee Floener, attended this event.
Friday, July 12, was the community service event day. Meeting at The Marilee, they proceeded to organize closets, clean and sanitize public areas, and cook a lunch of lasagna, garlic bread, and salad for the residents of the apartment complex. As the residents usually cook their own meals in their individual apartments, this luncheon provided an out of the ordinary social event for them. Many were anxiously waiting beginning two hours in advance. One female resident commented that she thought the day was going to be a bad day as it was her birthday which lead her to be somewhat depressed regarding her life circumstances. Having the lunch with lots of happy people around her, followed by cupcakes for dessert, made her day!
In addition to the community service time at The Marilee, all Marilees brought children’s books, featuring different ethnicities, to donate as these types of books are a passion of Marilee Roloff, who was instrumental in obtaining the funding to build The Marilee.
Friday evening and Saturday allowed this group of Marilees time to get to know each other and to tour the area. In Spokane’s Riverfront Park on Friday, they rode the historic 112 years-old Looff Carrousel and the Skyride gondolas over Spokane Falls. Saturday was a journey to Coeur d’Alene, ID to hike Tubbs Hill and cruise Lake Coeur d’Alene.
You’re probably wondering how these Marilees met. Facebook is the answer. One of the Marilees created a Facebook page for Marilees. To join, your name must be spelled Marilee, with no variations. There are currently 332 Marilees that have joined the group. They hail from throughout the world. The most distant reside in South Africa, Peru, and Estonia.
