It Was Great Seeing Everyone! GMS Accounting Summit 2019
|
GMS would like to thank everyone who attended the GMS Accounting Summit 2019 at the Myrtle Beach Marriott Resort & Spa at Grand Dunes in Myrtle Beach, SC. For most of the year, GMS staff’s relationships with our clients consist of phone calls, emails and the chat room. It’s always such a pleasure to see clients in person that we only see once a year at our summits as well as meet other clients for the first time.
As always, the interaction among our clients was tremendous as was the interaction between our clients and the GMS staff. All attendees were sent an email containing a link to an online evaluation/suggestion form. We ask that you please take the time to complete and return that form to GMS. As we have always stressed, we take our clients’ suggestions very seriously, as providing you with the best Accounting and Financial Management software possible is our number one priority. We thank you in advance for your feedback.
In addition to our summit, we hope you had some time to explore beautiful Myrtle Beach and the surrounding areas. It was great seeing everyone and having some “fun time” in addition to our sessions. We look forward to seeing even more clients next year at the GMS Accounting Summit 2020 from May 17th through May 22nd at The Guest House at Graceland in Memphis TN!

RLSS SUMMIT
Our annual Summits are always memorable times and the RLSS Summit in Myrtle Beach last month was no exception. It’s great to finally meet in person those that we only know by name and possibly voice recognition over the phone.
Ken Pearson from Northwest Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission was our guest speaker on Friday morning. He presented great information during his “Loan Committee Tactics for More Yes and Less Stress”. Attendees were seen later in the day gleaning additional knowledge from Ken in how to get more loans approved by their Boards plus ways to leverage funding.
Comments received from RLSS Summit attendees were “Great training” and “Even though I’ve attended previously, I always learn new information.” Most were surprised to learn of additions and changes we have made to the software. The Alert Listing caught many by surprise as this was released in our April Revision. (See article later in this newsletter or your Help Manual under Tools for more information regarding this.)
The RLSS Summit concluded with over 50% of attendees receiving raffle prizes.
All attendees will be receiving an email asking for you to evaluate the Summit along with any suggestions as to how we may improve it in the future. We would appreciate it if you could take the time to complete this to help us do better. See you next year in Memphis, TN at Graceland on May 21 & 22.

Did You Know? Exciting Items Discussed During the GMS Accounting Summit!
There was so much to learn and discover during the recent Accounting Summit in Myrtle Beach. One session that brought much excitement "Highlights & Enhancements of the GMS Accounting System", was led by Yongling Xin, Senior Software Developer for GMS. During this session, Yongling made an announcement that behind the scenes at GMS we have development teams not only working to improve the current .NET software, but also working on the beginning stages of developing a cloud version of our accounting software. We plan for this to be a 3 - 5 year project to ensure it is the best and most reliable system available on the market for the needs of our nonprofit accounting clients.
In addition, Yongling also discussed some key items available in our current .NET software.
In addition, Yongling also discussed some key items available in our current .NET software.
- The Employee, Vendor and Customer master files all now come with a comprehensive filter and sort capability. When you are data mining for a specific type of information within master files, you can select which field(s) you want to add to the grid from the master file(s) and then customize your results by applying filters. An example would be a list of all active employees in class two that live in a specific zip code. This ability within the master files is one of the features you used to need the Report Writer supplement to accomplish.
- The new Help file is now on-line with a greatly improved search capability.
- As GMS releases updates you will receive a ghost notification on your monitor that there is a newer version available.
- We are in the process of creating a new email function that will allow you to email stubs directly to employees and vendors that receive payment via direct deposit.
- Our .net version can easily be set up and accessed remotely through a terminal server, remote desktop or vpn environment. We will also work directly with a third party to help with setting up a cloud environment for our current software.

Hope House of Myrtle Beach
We would like to thank the attendees of the GMS Accounting and GMS RLSS Summits held last month in Myrtle Beach, SC for their participation in our charity project while in Myrtle Beach.
GMS aims to leave each city we visit a little better than we found it and this year we selected the Hope House of Myrtle Beach as the recipient of our fundraising efforts.
GMS Staff, together with our attendees, were able to contribute a large sum of consumable items such as pop-tarts, granola bars, tooth brushes and personal hygiene items. We were also able to donate funds to purchase approximately 500 gift cards.
There are over 10,000 homeless high school students living in South Carolina. These donations were much needed and well received.
Thank you for all you do! Together we make a difference!

We Need Your Summit Evaluations Please!
Your Opinions are Valued We rely on the evaluations submitted by attendees of the GMS Summits in a big way! Suggestions for new sessions are discussed every year by the GMS staff and comments about sessions are reviewed and discussed to allow us to improve sessions in the following years. Ideas and suggestions about general topics also assist us when we are looking for outside guest speakers or with creating new sessions. If we only receive evaluations from 10% of the attendees and only one or two of the 10% give us feedback on a particular session, we don’t have a good representation of opinions upon which to base our decisions. This is also true when rating sessions. GMS staff review all comments and ratings to determine what the attendees liked and didn’t like and what new ideas have been suggested for future training sessions.
Accounting Summit attendees received an email on June 3rd with a link to an online evaluation/suggestion form. RLSS Summit attendees will receive their link on Friday, June 7th. If you need the link re-sent, please contact Robin Berseth at robin@gmsactg.com. |
